What changed with federal loans in 2026?
Under the new rules, professional students can borrow up to $50,000 a year and $200,000 in aggregate, reduced by prior graduate borrowing. A separate $257,500 lifetime student-loan maximum applies. Grad PLUS is unavailable to new graduate and professional borrowers.
Continuing students enrolled by June 30, 2026 who received a Direct Loan for that program before July 1 may qualify for an interim exception, generally for up to three academic years or their remaining program duration, whichever is shorter. How do these calculators work?
The funding tool subtracts your entered aid and support from annual costs. Repayment estimates assume immediate monthly payments at fixed rates, excluding fees, deferment, capitalization, income-driven plans and forgiveness. Entries clear on reload. No account needed.
Estimates only. Confirm aid with your school and terms with your lender.
