Curriculum & Education
Overview
Our didactic program consists of weekly lectures based on the SCORE curriculum, M&M conferences, and monthly simulation sessions. Through our comprehensive educational conferences, simulation resources, and commitment to surgical education, residents will be uniquely prepared for successful careers in modern surgery.
Application
Applicants must submit their application through ERAS by December 1st for the following academic year. Three letters of recommendation, a Dean's letter, medical school transcripts, personal statement, USMLE scores, and ECFMG certificate (if applicable) are required. Interviews will be held on four days, three in-person and one virtual.

The residents will benefit from training at several institutions including University of Illinois Hospital, John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate Christ Medical Center, OSF Little Company of Mary Hospital, and the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Fellowship
Most of the residents in the program go on to pursue fellowships after training. Graduates have been matched in a variety of surgical specialties, indicating a diverse range of post-residency opportunities. Alumni have successfully entered both private practice and academic surgery roles, which showcases the program's ability to prepare residents for successful careers in modern surgery.
