Curriculum & Education
Overview
PGY1: Introduction to interview techniques and skills, psychopharmacology, clinical psychiatry including psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, and affective disorders, inpatient psychiatry; PGY2: Interview techniques, psychopharmacology, geriatric psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry; PGY3: Outpatient evaluation, advanced psychopharmacology, CBT, family therapy; PGY4: Advanced topics including eating disorders and interpersonal psychotherapy.
Application
Applications accepted through ERAS or paper/electronic routes. Requirements include: USMLE passed Step I, II, II (clinical skills), valid ECFMG certificate, accredited medical school (graduated within last 10 years), US citizenship or permanent residency (no visa sponsorship), average score of 80 or above preferred, passing Step III by Oct. 31 for PGY3 promotion. Documents needed: medical diploma (with notarized translation if required), transcript (with notarized translation if required), CV, USMLE scores, letters of reference (2 from supervisors, and 1 from current position if employed), proof of citizenship, and any additional beneficial documentation. Review of applications by Education Policy Committee; interviews scheduled for late October/early November.

RUMC offers one of the largest arrays of emergency, inpatient and ambulatory mental health and substance abuse programs in the state of New York.
