Curriculum & Education

Overview

Our training focuses on three main aspects: Providing EDUCATION in a safe learning environment where resident opinions and decisions are valued; Preparing residents as ADVOCATES for children, young adults, and families within their regional and national communities; Supporting PHYSICIAN WELLNESS by mindfully taking care of our residents’ needs and promoting their personal health and well-being.

Application

The LSU Health Shreveport Pediatric Residency Training Program accepts applications only via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The deadline for applications is December 15, 2024. Applicants for the PGY-1 level are selected through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). There are 8 PGY-1 Positions available for 2024-2025. International medical graduates (IMGs) must register for ERAS by contacting the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). LSU Health Shreveport sponsors J-1 visas ONLY.

22 General Pediatric & 8 PICU beds, along with a busy newborn nursery and a 40 bed NICU in a Level 1 trauma center with over 30,000 outpatient visits per year.

Fellowship

The program offers fellowship training in Allergy/Immunology at their facility. Additionally, it provides a combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency program.
