Graduate medical education programs in behavioral health have never been more important to our community and it's vitally important for teaching hospitals to invest in individuals interested in pursuing psychiatry. Our program is rooted in the ACGME's core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice. Our emphasis is on the humane application of scientific knowledge and preparation of graduates for continuing lifelong self-directed learning; cost-effective utilization of public resources; responsiveness to the needs of individuals and the community; and the highest standards of academic excellence and professional ethics.
