Curriculum & Education

Overview

The program includes rotations through various surgical specialties over five years, with each year building on the last and integrating the six ACGME Core Competencies.

Application

To apply to our program, your application must be submitted through ERAS by November 1st to be eligible for consideration. All applications must be registered by this deadline; no new applications will be considered after the deadline. The applicant may be interviewed with only USMLE step I scores, but consideration for ranking is based on steps I and II. The residency program participates in the National Resident Match Program (NRMP).

Residents work at multiple locations within the Central Florida area, including AdventHealth Orlando and affiliated hospitals such as AdventHealth East Orlando and AdventHealth Sebring.

Fellowship

The General Surgery Residency at AdventHealth Orlando provides various fellowship opportunities including Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, and several others. Alumni have completed fellowships at affiliated institutions like Duke University and the University of Chicago.
