Curriculum & Education

Overview

The curriculum for first-year residents (PGY-1) includes 5 weeks of Ward Medicine, 2 weeks of Critical Care Unit, 4 weeks of Subspecialty Electives, 1 week of Ambulatory Medicine, and 1 week of Night Medicine. The training emphasizes both clinical practice and academic excellence, preparing residents for various specialties.

Application

Applications will not be reviewed unless they are completed by December 1. Completed applications must include a personal statement, Dean’s Letter, transcript, a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation, and COMLEX Level 1, 2, and 2 PE scores. Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS).

Residents work primarily at Berkshire Medical Center and also provide care in outlying clinics and health centers throughout Berkshire County.

Fellowship

The program offers various fellowship opportunities, including those in Cardiology, Critical Care, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology Oncology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Pulmonary/Critical Care, Rheumatology, and Sleep Medicine. Many recent graduates have pursued positions in esteemed institutions such as the University of Arizona and Baystate Medical Center.
