Curriculum & Education
Overview
A structured didactic schedule consists of a weekly core general surgery conference that includes morbidity and mortality discussions, advanced certifying examination simulation (mock oral board sessions), grand rounds, journal club or SCORE curriculum review, and surgical skills lab. Skill labs are scheduled in fall of the academic year and the level of training varies between each postgraduate year group.
Application
All applications are processed through the Electronic Resident Application Service. The deadline for applying to the program is November 30. Minimum USMLE scores are Step 1=240 and Step 2=250, BOTH Step scores must be submitted with original application, in addition, three letters of recommendation are required. The interview season lasts from November through January. We do not require prior experience to apply to the program. All applicants must possess U.S. work authorization or be eligible for J-1 status.
