Curriculum & Education

Overview

The residency program includes experiences in various local healthcare facilities, involving rotations through different specialties over a comprehensive three-year training period, including a Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum which prepares residents to make evidence-based lifestyle behavior interventions.

Application

Applications are only accepted through ERAS. All PGY-1 positions are selected through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The EC-HealthNet NRMP number is 1202700560. No visa sponsorships available. Applicants must have a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation, must have graduated medical school within the last 3 years, FMG applicants must have completed at least 50% of their medical school rotations in the US, and must have passed Step 1, 2, and CE Exams with no more than 6 combined attempts. FMG applicants must be ECFMG certified.

Residents will work at multiple local healthcare facilities, including Ochsner Rush Health System and Baptist Anderson Regional Health System.

Fellowship

The residency program offers a Rural Maternal Health Fellowship which begins in 2024. This fellowship will train 2-3 fellows per year in maternal health in a rural setting, preparing them to provide comprehensive care to women in underserved communities, including training in obstetrical emergencies and surgical obstetrics.

Salary & Benefits

Benefits Overview

Salary package with PGY1 at $50,000, PGY2 at $51,000, and PGY3 at $52,000; health, dental, vision, life insurance; medical malpractice; educational stipend; conference registration fees for PGY3; optional long-term and short-term disability benefits.

PGY-1 Salary

$50,000 salary plus over $10,000 employer paid benefits for a total package of $60,000

Vacation

Residents receive 21 days of paid time off each year. Additional time is provided for educational leave and holidays. The program allows FMLA according to ACGME regulations. EC-HealthNet is a family-friendly environment.
