Our program’s major emphasis focuses on the development of individual competence in obstetric decision-making and surgical technique. Our primary training site, Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown (ASTHM), is the largest volume obstetric hospital in the state of Tennessee and in the national Ascension system. Our hospital is a regional leader in obstetric simulation training. We offer a robust experience in general obstetrics and gynecology as well as the complete range of subspecialty experience for residents who are considering a fellowship in the major subspecialties. Our fundamental philosophy of training is to view residents as apprentice attending obstetrician-gynecologists. Our priority is the professional development of each resident in an environment that supports personal growth and experience.
