Curriculum & Education

Overview

The curriculum consists of 13 four-week blocks. Each year includes 3 weeks of vacation. The PGY-1 year includes blocks in emergency medicine, anesthesiology, cardiology, EMS, ICU, internal medicine, surgery, trauma, and more, with additional specialties covered in later years.

Application

Applications are accepted from graduates of approved medical schools through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). You may submit your application materials to us any time after ERAS opens. Invitations are sent on a rolling basis. Required items include COMLEX or USLME scores, dean's letter and transcript, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Interview season runs from October to February.

On Call Schedule

Each year has 3 weeks of vacation built into the schedule. Additionally, one conference per year is also allowed. EM shifts are 9 hours in length (with a one-hour overlap), and as you progress through residency the total number of shifts per block gradually decreases. Additionally, nights are scheduled together to decrease the number of day-to-night switches.
